William Quantrill shirt
Former schoolteacher, Quantrill joined a group of guerillas who defended the Missouri and Kansas countryside during Lincoln's invasion during the first American 'Civil War.'

Later, the group became Confederate soldiers, who were referred to as "Quantrill's Raiders". It was a pro-Confederate partisan ranger outfit that was best known for its often brutal guerrilla tactics. Also notable is that the group included the young Jesse James and his older brother Frank James.

Quantrill's Raiders was famous for their hit-and-run attacks against federal invaders, and were particularly thorough in exacting revenge for the many atrocities committed against Confederate women and children by the U.S. government forces.
